A popular Instagram challenge, with over 310,000 participants, invites users to have the AI chatbot ChatGPT humorously insult their posts. The “ask ChatGPT to roast your feed in one paragraph” challenge spreads through an Instagram story template, which users can easily share or complete themselves.

To participate, users download the ChatGPT app, send it screenshots of their Instagram profiles, and prompt it to “roast my Instagram feed in one paragraph.” The AI-generated insults range from “trying too hard to be spontaneous” to “a Pinterest board that ran out of ideas.” Participants then share the roast along with their profile screenshots via the template.

The challenge is available only on the mobile app and requires a ChatGPT account. This viral trend, created by a German “bookstagram” account, follows the broader use of Instagram story templates, which have also been utilized for political messaging. While ChatGPT continues to lead in AI-text tools, other platforms, like Meta, have launched similar features but struggle to gain the same traction. This challenge marks one of the first major text-based AI trends to go viral across platforms.
