Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin’s home in Sewickley Heights was burglarized Saturday night, with his three Stanley Cup rings among the stolen items. Malkin discovered the break-in upon returning home after the Penguins’ game against the Ottawa Senators, a 5-0 loss at PPG Paints Arena.

According to a statement from the Allegheny County Police Department, detectives have launched an investigation but have not found any links to a spate of recent burglaries targeting high-profile athletes, such as Patrick Mahomes and Luka Doncic. However, the theft highlights ongoing concerns over professional athletes’ security, with law enforcement agencies suspecting transnational crime groups.

Malkin, a three-time Stanley Cup champion and 45th on the NHL’s all-time goals list, has requested privacy during the investigation. The Penguins organization is working with local authorities and security teams to recover the stolen memorabilia.

While police continue to investigate, both the NBA and NFL have warned their athletes about organized burglary rings targeting high-net-worth individuals, leveraging game schedules to plan their crimes.
