The Miami Heat have traded Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors, according to multiple reports. In return, Miami will receive Andrew Wiggins and a protected first-round pick. Butler, 35, had been at odds with the Heat over his contract and requested a trade last month. The team suspended him three times for conduct detrimental to the team, and he has not played since Jan. 21.

NBA champion, Andrew Wiggins, will be sent to the Miami Heat in a blockbuster trade.

In early January, Butler expressed frustration after a loss to the Indiana Pacers, admitting he had lost his joy for the game and doubted he could regain it in Miami. The Heat suspended him the next day and began exploring trade options. His situation deteriorated with additional suspensions for missing a team flight and leaving practice early.

Golden State is reportedly signing Butler to a two-year, $121 million extension, ESPN reported. The Warriors, currently 10th in the Western Conference, add a six-time All-Star who led Miami to two NBA Finals appearances in 2020 and 2023. Last May, after the Heat’s playoff exit, team president Pat Riley hesitated to offer Butler a long-term extension, a decision that fueled Butler’s discontent.
