An 18-year-old Indiana student, Jamie Shockley, has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder after allegedly planning a mass shooting at Mooresville High School on Valentine’s Day. According to court documents, the plot was inspired by the 2018 Parkland school shooting. Authorities were alerted by a tipster who claimed Shockley had access to an AR-15, recently purchased a bulletproof vest, and idolized Parkland shooter Nikolas Cruz.

Investigators traced the tip to Discord messages, where Shockley allegedly detailed his plan, referring to it as “Parkland part two.” A school counselor later reported that Shockley expressed an obsession with Cruz and wore a locket with his photo. During a search of Shockley’s home, law enforcement found a collage of school shooters, AR-15 magazines, bullets, and disturbing journal entries describing violent thoughts and past bullying.

Shockley initially told police he was “joking” about his plans but later admitted he intended to target the school during lunch when the most students would be present. The school district confirmed that Shockley was taken into custody and will not return. Prosecutors have filed a motion to hold him without bond, while the district urged families to reach out for mental health support if needed.
