Former Bachelor star Sean Lowe revealed that he re-homed his family’s rescue dog, Moose, after two violent attacks left him hospitalized.

In an Instagram video, Lowe explained that Moose first became aggressive when a smoke alarm went off due to barbecue smoke drifting into the house. As Lowe tried to fan away the smoke, the dog suddenly bit his hands and feet. When Lowe firmly told him “No,” Moose bared his teeth and attacked, sinking into his arm and causing severe bleeding. Friends intervened, and Lowe rushed to the ER, where doctors stitched up multiple deep wounds.

Despite the attack, Lowe struggled to understand why Moose turned on him. The family had adopted the 7-year-old boxer in January after their kids begged for a pet. However, just a day after the first incident, Moose lunged at Lowe again when wind blew open the backyard doors. This time, Lowe wrestled the powerful dog to the ground, believing he was fighting for his life. His family called the police, and he needed more stitches on his other arm.

Lowe emphasized that he doesn’t blame Moose or the rescue organization, believing the dog suffered past trauma and had a neurological issue that triggered sudden aggression. While devastated over the decision, Lowe said they had no choice but to re-home Moose for their family’s safety.

“We miss our dog, as weird as that sounds,” he admitted. “He was a really, really good dog, and we miss him.”
