Rock star Jon Bon Jovi is having a great time with his new status as a grandfather. He talked with Savannah Guthrie from Today about how happy he was when he finally got to meet his first grandchild. At 63, Bon Jovi says being “Papa” brings him great happiness.

“It was instant,” he explained while talking with Guthrie, “when we met Jake and Millie’s baby daughter, that’s when I knew ‘that’s my granddaughter.’ You immediately fall in love.” In late August, Bon Jovi’s son Jake Bongiovi and his wife, Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, told the world they had adopted a baby girl, and the news quickly turned into one of the top stories of the year in both the music and movie industries.

Sweet Coincidence

When asked what name he chose for himself as a grandparent, Bon Jovi explained that the name “Papa” is the same name of a character from the popular Netflix show starring his daughter-in-law. Guthrie jokingly mentioned that the baby would likely need “baby headphones” so she could listen to Bon Jovi when he starts his Forever Tour at Madison Square Garden in Summer 2025. Bon Jovi chuckled and responded, “yeah, I’m counting on that.”

Jake and Millie updated their followers on social media by posting a photo of themselves holding hands and gazing lovingly into each other’s eyes, with their newborn child shown through the gap between them. Their baby’s small foot was visible in the photo and caused a huge reaction of excitement and love from fans.

Family First

Bon Jovi was interviewed again by Bunnie XO’s “Dumb Blonde” Podcast where he discussed his new role as a grandfather and explained that he already takes plenty of photos and wants many more. “I want to see pictures every other day,” he laughed, “I’m that annoying person already.”

He also confirmed that his son Jesse and his wife are expecting another baby, adding to the excitement of Bon Jovi Family members. With four children, including daughters Stephanie and Dorothea and sons Jesse, Jake, and Romeo, Bon Jovi and his wife continue to live in New Jersey.

In a previous interview with Willie Geist, Bon Jovi expressed his appreciation for his life and career. “I’ve always been thankful,” he explained. “What do I have? I have a wonderful wife and family who love me. I have a band that trusts me. I’ve lived a good life.”

With the start of his new chapter as “Papa”, Bon Jovi’s views remain centered around family and love; much like the source of his music over the years.
