A passenger who became involved in an in-flight dispute accused Porsha Williams of hitting her during a tense moment on a Delta Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Atlanta, but the Real Housewives of Atlanta star insists she never touched the woman. The incident unfolded Sunday night and has since drawn attention from both the Atlanta Police Department and federal authorities.

Police body camera footage released Wednesday shows Williams, 44, calmly explaining her side of the confrontation after the flight landed at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Officers also spoke with the other passenger, whose identity has not been made public. The FBI’s Atlanta field office confirmed it is aware of the situation, though officials say it is still unclear whether federal charges will apply.

A spokesperson for Williams said she was “verbally assaulted without provocation,” claiming the other passenger made accusations that did not align with what multiple eyewitnesses observed. According to the spokesperson, Williams is cooperating fully with investigators and believes the facts will ultimately show she was not the aggressor.

Conflicting accounts inside the cabin

In the police footage, Williams explains that she was browsing her phone with the volume on when the woman seated beside her in first class complained abruptly about the sound. Williams said the tone of the complaint caught her off guard, sparking a brief exchange that escalated quickly. According to Williams, the passenger began cursing and suddenly accused her of striking her in the face. Williams denied ever laying a hand on her.

Flight attendants intervened and moved the woman to another seat. Two nearby passengers then approached officers to defend Williams, stating that they witnessed the exchange and did not see her hit the woman at any point.

The second body camera video, however, shows the other passenger expressing fear and asking officers whether her personal information would be shared. She claimed Williams had her phone volume at “full blast,” startled her, and reacted aggressively when confronted about it. She described a moment when Williams’ fingernail came close to her eye and said she believed she was about to be attacked.

The woman also alleged that when she tried to record the interaction, Williams swatted her phone away. She told officers that the action felt like an assault, emphasizing that she is 70 years old.

Investigation continues as accounts diverge

Authorities will now review all statements, the body camera footage, and eyewitness accounts to determine whether further action is warranted. Delta Airlines has not released a public statement regarding the altercation. Williams, through her team, maintains that she was unfairly targeted and expects the investigation to confirm her account of the events.

As federal officials evaluate whether the incident meets the threshold for potential charges, both sides appear committed to standing by their version of what unfolded in the crowded cabin thousands of feet above the ground.
