Coldplay frontman Chris Martin took a misstep and fell through a trap door on stage while interacting with fans at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. Video circulating on social media shows Martin walking backwards, reading signs from the audience, and unexpectedly stepping into the open trap door, where a crew member managed to catch him.

“That’s not planned,” Martin quipped after being helped back up. “Thank you for catching me.” The incident happened during the final show of Coldplay’s four-concert series at the stadium as part of the band’s “Music of the Spheres” tour, which started in 2022 and runs through 2025. Coldplay’s Melbourne run was also a milestone, setting a new stadium attendance record with 227,000 fans across the four shows, surpassing AC/DC’s record of 181,495 attendees from 2010.

Martin’s incident isn’t the first onstage trap door mishap recently. In October, Olivia Rodrigo also fell through an opening at her Melbourne concert, later visiting a hospital as a precaution.
