James Craig, a Colorado dentist accused of poisoning his wife with cyanide and tetrahydrozoline in March 2023, now faces additional charges for allegedly plotting to kill a detective involved in the case. Craig, who pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife of 23 years, Angela Craig, is accused of soliciting a fellow inmate to commit the crime while incarcerated.

Angela Craig, 43, fell ill in early March 2023 and later died after a severe seizure. Investigators identified cyanide and tetrahydrozoline as the causes of her death, later uncovering Craig’s suspicious internet search history about arsenic detection and his online purchase of cyanide, delivered to his dental practice. Craig initially denied the purchase to his business partner but later claimed his wife had asked him to order it.

The murder investigation intensified when Craig’s business partner flagged the cyanide purchase to a nurse, who then contacted authorities. Craig was also charged with solicitation to commit perjury in addition to the detective murder plot. His lawyer withdrew from the case last week, citing a conflict and concerns that Craig persisted in potentially fraudulent actions, as reported by KUSA.

Craig’s trial, originally scheduled to begin last week, has been indefinitely postponed while authorities continue investigating the new allegations.
