The Dallas Cowboys have successfully signed star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb to a four-year, $136 million contract, the team announced Monday. This deal positions Lamb as the second highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, with $100 million guaranteed.

Lamb, a three-time Pro Bowler, held out through training camp and all preseason games, pushing for a new contract as he entered the final year of his rookie deal from 2017. The agreement now extends his tenure with the Cowboys through 2028.

Negotiations between Lamb and the Cowboys were tense at times, with owner Jerry Jones initially expressing no urgency to finalize the deal. Lamb’s response on X with a simple “lol” hinted at the underlying frustration.

Lamb’s performance has been stellar, playing every game in the last four years. In 2023, he set team records with 135 receptions, 1,749 yards, and 12 touchdowns. In the Cowboys’ sole postseason game, he added nine catches for 110 yards. Over his career, Lamb has accumulated 395 receptions, 5,145 yards, and 32 touchdowns.

With Lamb secured, the Cowboys are expected to focus on quarterback Dak Prescott’s contract, which is set to expire at the end of the season. Prescott is ineligible for a franchise tag, raising the possibility of free agency if a deal isn’t reached.

Dallas kicks off the regular season on Sept. 8 against the Cleveland Browns.
