The founder of Fandango, J. Michael Cline, died in an apparent suicide after falling from a New York City luxury hotel on Tuesday. Cline, 64, of Palm Beach, Florida, was found “unconscious and unresponsive” outside the Kimberly Hotel in Manhattan around 10 a.m. He was pronounced dead at 10:30 a.m., with injuries indicating a fall from an elevated position.

Police continue to investigate but suspect no criminal activity. The medical examiner’s office has yet to release information on the cause and manner of death.

Cline, a serial entrepreneur, founded Fandango in 2000 and left in 2011. He attended Cornell University and Harvard Business School and founded several companies, including Acumen and Accolade. He was also the managing partner of Accretive, a start-up funding firm, and chaired the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, expressing his dedication to wildlife conservation in a 2020 annual report.

Married to Pamela since 1995, as noted in a New York Times wedding announcement, Cline is survived by his wife and their six children, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
