On Sunday night, Fifth Harmony unexpectedly reunited onstage, which immediately set the fandom into a power surge, by singing their smash hit “Worth It” during the Jonas Brothers’ North American tour in Dallas, Texas – their first time performing together since going on more than seven years ago, minus another member. Normani, Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke and Dinah Jane joined together to perform their hit, all the while sampling all the things they have done together.

“Y’all remember Fifth Harmony right?” asked Normani, posing to a hysterical crowd who erupted.

Of course, Camila Cabello was absent, she left the group in 2016 and is currently touring down in Australia as a solo artist. Even still, the reunion landed heavy, just hours after the group’s dormant social media account posted a teaser, along with the hashtag #FifthHarmonyFollowSpree, their first post since 2018. This cryptic activity sparked fan speculation that exploded altogether when the girls took the stage.

Harmonizers React Following the Videos

Several “Harmonizers,” along with some uninterested bystanders, reacted to the performances from their seats or the general public shared their experience from attending an event of this historic occasion online. Video content flooded the social media apps X, TikTok and Instagram, as many of those in student debt and in attendance shared the moment together with popular song. More reactions poured in, many calling the moment iconic, while some expressed sadness that it was not a complete group. Several called it “unreal,” and some just bemoaned that it was not complete with Cabello.

Even if there were still only four parts in the group, the moment was real, and for some fans, it was an augmented achievement and justification for their excessive fandom after seven years of radio silence. Many were wondering if it was one performance or a teaser of greater things that might happen. Nevertheless, the movement around the moment proliferated incredibly fast, with pop culture commentators and fan pages sharing and trading in excitement and anticipation of sharing this memorable moment on social media.

A Brief History of Fifth Harmony

Fifth Harmony formed through reality competition “The X Factor USA” in 2012, after the judges brought five of the six solo artists together at the same time to form a group to compete for the band-aid prize of $5 million. They finished in third place, and quickly became a commercial powerhouse. They released three albums, featuring “Work From Home” that peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, and gained all of the fans and associated platinum certifications associated with them as well.

Cabello left the group in 2016 to pursue her individual music career and when Fifth Harmony formally entered their hiatus in 2018, the remaining four members quickly followed Cabello independently in their music careers or with creative commitments involving the group, especially prior to whatever warrants that social media capital and visibility ticket attached. Whether there is a more significant reunion or tour on the horizon is still yet uncertain but any reunion added more credibility and spice to whatever this collective and collaborative music journey was collectively, if even for only a night.
