An arrest warrant issued Wednesday in Miami targets former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown on a charge of attempted second-degree murder, with bond set at $10,000. Miami police confirmed Friday that the 36-year-old has not surrendered.

Brown did not respond to an inquiry from NBC News, and authorities have not indicated whether he has legal representation.

The charge arises from a May 16 altercation outside an amateur boxing card in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood. Online videos captured a chaotic scene in which gunfire could be heard.

According to the warrant, off-duty Florida Highway Patrol officers working event security were alerted to shots outside the venue. Several witnesses pointed to Brown as the shooter. Officers detained him and found he was unarmed at that moment.

Brown posted on X the next morning, claiming multiple attackers tried to rob him and that police released him after hearing his account: “I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry … Police temporarily detained me until they received my side of the story and then released me.”

Investigators reviewed security footage that allegedly shows Brown punching another man, after which three others joined the fight. The video then appears to depict Brown seizing a security officer’s firearm and advancing toward the man he had struck. Cell-phone clips record two gunshots; officers later recovered two spent casings and an empty holster.

The man who was punched told police he has known Brown since 2022 and identified him as the shooter. Doctors treated a graze wound on the man’s neck later that night.

Brown’s 12-year NFL career, highlighted by prolific seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, has long been shadowed by legal trouble. The New England Patriots released him after one game in 2019 amid sexual-assault allegations, a lawsuit that was ultimately settled in 2021.

He joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers but served a three-game suspension for falsifying Covid-19 vaccination records. Earlier, a Florida court placed him on probation for assaulting a truck driver in 2020.

Brown’s playing days effectively ended in late 2021 when he removed his jersey and walked off the field during a Buccaneers game at MetLife Stadium, closing a turbulent chapter both on and off the gridiron.
