Tampa police said officers are still investigating the cause of the shooting and working to identify individuals involved.

Jacksonville rapper Foolio, whose real name is Charles Jones, was shot and killed Sunday morning in Tampa, his lawyer confirmed.

Police responded to a hotel in uptown Tampa just before sunrise after reports of a shooting. They found two vehicles shot at in the parking lot. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene, while three other victims are in stable condition at the hospital.

Officers are investigating the motive for the shooting and working to identify those involved.

Jones, 26, was celebrating his birthday the night of his fatal shooting, according to his Instagram story. The rapper, with 1 million followers on Instagram, shared a video promoting a pool party Saturday evening, asking followers to direct-message him for the address.

Later, he posted that police had “shut us down and kicked us out” of their Airbnb. Jones then relocated to a Holiday Inn, where he was reportedly ambushed in the parking lot, according to his lawyer Lewis Fusco.

“Best birthday everrrr 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞 appreciate everybody who pulled up we turnt up till we couldn’t nomo,” Jones wrote on Instagram a few hours before the shooting. “We otw to the show now yall pull-up.”

In April, while announcing his latest album, “Resurrection,” Jones posted about surviving “MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS ON MY LIFE.”

Jones, who had nearly 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify, had been making music since 2015.
