A Japan Airlines plane taxiing at Seattle-Tacoma Airport on Wednesday morning struck the tail of a parked Delta Airlines jet, damaging both planes but causing no injuries. The incident occurred at 10:17 a.m. when the Japan Airlines wing clipped the Delta jet as it passed, according to airport officials.

Photos shared by travelers on social media showed the Delta plane’s tail partially sliced by the impact. “We were sitting on the tarmac at SeaTac, and another plane ran into us. Just casually sliced into our tail. Very scary,” one passenger wrote. Another described the moment as loud and unsettling.

No injuries were reported in the crash.

Seattle-Tacoma Airport confirmed the incident had minimal impact on operations, and passengers were safely deplaned and taken to the terminal.

The close call comes amid heightened concerns over aviation safety following two deadly accidents. Just last week, a US Army helicopter collided with an American Airlines jet at Reagan National Airport, killing 67 people. Days later, an ambulance jet crashed onto a Philadelphia street, claiming seven lives.

Concerns deepened over the weekend when the Federal Aviation Administration’s Notice to Air Missions system (NOTAM), which provides crucial safety updates, suffered an outage, delaying hundreds of flights before being restored Sunday.
