No charges will be filed against former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Jason Kelce following an altercation outside Penn State’s Beaver Stadium last month, a university official announced Wednesday. The incident, captured on video, appeared to show Kelce smashing a fan’s cellphone during a heated exchange.

Kelce, attending the Penn State-Ohio State game on Nov. 2, was reportedly provoked by a fan shouting a homophobic slur about his brother, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, referencing Travis’s relationship with pop superstar Taylor Swift.

Social media videos verified by NBC News showed Jason Kelce holding a case of beer as a man hurled insults. Kelce seemed to grab the man’s phone, smash it on the ground, and walk away. In another video angle, the man chased Kelce, requesting his phone back, as Kelce appeared to repeat the slur.

Penn State spokesperson Jacqueline Sheader confirmed the investigation’s closure, stating that the individual in the videos remains unidentified and no complaint has been filed with campus police.

In an apology on ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown,” Kelce expressed regret. “I’m not happy with what happened. In a heated moment, I greeted hate with hate, which isn’t productive,” he admitted.

Kelce, who retired after last season, now works as a commentator for ESPN and was at the game as part of the network’s “College GameDay” crew. ESPN has not commented on the incident.
