Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow became the latest professional athlete to fall victim to a home burglary. His Anderson Township, Ohio, home was broken into between Sunday afternoon and Monday night while he was in Texas with his team for a game against the Dallas Cowboys, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

A woman working for Burrow discovered the break-in late Monday and reported it to authorities around 11 p.m. Deputies noted that a bedroom window had been shattered and the room ransacked. Although Burrow was out of town and unable to identify missing items, the woman provided a “non-detailed itemization” of what might have been stolen. Neighbors were contacted to provide potential surveillance footage to assist the investigation.

Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes represented the Kansas City Chiefs during their game on December 17, 2023, in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

This incident adds Burrow to a growing list of athletes whose homes have been targeted. In October, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce reported break-ins at their Kansas City homes while they were playing a game. Similarly, NBA players Bobby Portis and Mike Conley Jr. had their homes burglarized during games.

The NFL and NBA have issued warnings to players about “sophisticated” transnational crime rings targeting athletes. The FBI is collaborating with local authorities to determine if these incidents are connected. Officials have not yet confirmed whether the burglary at Burrow’s home is linked to the wider pattern.

Burrow and his representatives have yet to comment on the break-in.
