In a much-anticipated hot dog-eating contest streamed live on Netflix, American competitive eater Joey Chestnut dominated his rival, Japan’s Takeru Kobayashi, by consuming 83 hot dogs in 10 minutes, compared to Kobayashi’s 66. This faceoff, their first in 15 years, took place at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas with a $100,000 prize and the title of “Greatest of All Time” on the line.

Chestnut, 40, surpassed his personal record of 76 hot dogs, crediting Kobayashi, 46, as his motivation. Despite retiring earlier this year, Kobayashi returned to challenge Chestnut, stating that competing against him “means a lot.” However, after the contest, Kobayashi acknowledged through a translator that he gave it his all but couldn’t surpass Chestnut.

Netflix promoted the event as “Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef,” comparing their rivalry to iconic sports matchups like Mike Tyson vs. Evander Holyfield. The contest also featured stricter rules, prohibiting dunking hot dogs in water and separating the buns from the wieners.

The event included undercard contests, where competitive eater Matt Stonie outpaced Olympians Ryan Lochte, Ryan Murphy, and Max Irving in a chicken wing-eating challenge. British competitive eater Leah Shutkever set a new Guinness World Record by consuming a record amount of watermelon in three minutes.
