A scheduled concert in South Korea featuring Kanye West, now legally known as Ye, has been canceled by South Korean e-commerce giant Coupang. The decision was announced Monday by Coupang and ticket vendor Interpark, who cited “recent controversies involving the artist” as the reason for pulling the plug on the May 31 event in Incheon. Neither company expanded on the exact cause.

The latest backlash surrounding the U.S. rapper stems from a new track titled “Heil Hitler,” released earlier this month. The song has drawn intense criticism for glorifying Adolf Hitler, the orchestrator of the Holocaust, deepening the controversy surrounding West’s public image.

Coupang announced that their supposed partnered concert with Kanye West has been canceled.

Coupang had planned to host the concert through its streaming arm, Coupang Play, and had already begun promoting the event. But following the uproar, the company halted all related efforts, including suspending sales of merchandise from West’s Yeezy fashion label.

This isn’t the first time the artist has faced severe fallout for inflammatory remarks. In 2022, Adidas ended its lucrative shoe partnership with West after a string of antisemitic outbursts. The sportswear giant eventually offloaded its remaining Yeezy inventory earlier this year.

All ticket purchases for the now-canceled Incheon concert will be fully refunded, Coupang and Interpark confirmed in their joint statement. The decision to cancel the event and cut ties with the artist’s brand appears to signal a broader move by Korean companies to distance themselves from the deepening controversy.
