Months after ending his feud with Drake, Kendrick Lamar released a new untitled track via Instagram Reels on Tuesday evening, coinciding with the MTV VMAs. Although his hit “Not Like Us,” which took aim at Drake, was nominated for three VMAs, it didn’t win.

The new track is currently only available on Instagram, following the pattern of Lamar’s earlier diss track “6:16 in L.A.,” also released on the platform. Fans are divided on whether this new song continues his rivalry with Drake or comments on the state of rap. The lyrics, referencing destruction and rebirth, include lines about wanting to “watch the party die” and envisioning a “new Earth.”

The track’s cover art, featuring black Air Force 1 sneakers, has sparked speculation due to the meme associated with the shoes, which represent nefarious behavior.

Lamar’s feud with Drake spanned nine diss tracks, with many declaring Lamar the winner after his smash hit “Not Like Us” topped the Billboard Hot 100 and became one of the summer’s biggest songs. Lamar performed the track six times in a row during his Juneteenth concert.

Recently, Lamar was announced as the headliner for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show. He declared, “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date, and I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”
