Kid Cudi has spoken candidly about his experience testifying at Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking trial earlier this year. The 41-year-old “Pursuit Of Happiness (Nightmare)” rapper appeared in court during the eight-week trial to support Cassie Ventura, Diddy’s ex-girlfriend, whom he briefly dated in 2011 when she was reportedly on a break from the music mogul.

Speaking with Alex Cooper on Call Her Daddy, Cudi said, “I was there because I had to be. At first, they asked, and I said no. They asked again. I said no. Then I got subpoenaed and I was like, ‘F***k! S***! No!’” He admitted he “hated every minute” of the experience and repeatedly stressed that he never wanted to testify.

Cudi’s Motivation to Testify

Despite his reluctance, once on the stand, Cudi’s mindset changed when he realized the importance of supporting Ventura, 38. “I’m here to support Cassie. Cassie is my friend. I love her, and I want to see her do well,” he recalled. He described feeling genuinely happy for her milestones—her marriage, starting a family—and wanting to see her thrive after knowing she had endured a “nightmare.”

His testimony came during the high-profile trial that followed Diddy’s September 2024 arrest on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. The 55-year-old producer was convicted on two prostitution-related counts but acquitted of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. The trial featured bombshell testimony from several witnesses, including Ventura, who spoke for four days about alleged abuse—physical, sexual, and emotional—throughout her on-and-off relationship with Diddy between 2007 and 2018.

Explosive Allegations and Cudi’s Claims

Among Ventura’s claims was that Diddy retaliated after learning about her relationship with Cudi, allegedly bombing the rapper’s car. Cudi testified he believed Diddy had “something to do with” the “intentional” act, which destroyed his vehicle. “I knew he had something to do with it,” he stated firmly.

Outside the courtroom, Cudi discussed the matter while promoting his debut memoir, Cudi: The Memoir. He reflected on his “chaotic” and “intense” relationship with Ventura, explaining that they began dating when he was dealing with his “own personal s***,” adopting a reckless attitude toward the relationship. Looking back, he described those events as “some crazy s***” from his rock ‘n’ roll life—wild moments that took on a darker significance after Diddy’s recent legal troubles came to light.
