Far-right activist Laura Loomer met with former President Donald Trump in the Oval Office on Wednesday, joined by Vice President JD Vance, national security adviser Mike Waltz, and Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, according to two sources familiar with the meeting.

During the meeting, Loomer urged Trump to fire members of his national security staff, prompting a defense from Waltz. Loomer confirmed the meeting to NBC News, calling it an “honor” and emphasizing her commitment to “strong vetting” for national security. “Out of respect for President Trump and the privacy of the Oval Office, I’m going to decline on divulging any details,” she said. “I will continue working hard to support his agenda.”

The meeting came amid growing scrutiny of Trump’s national security team, following a report by The Atlantic that its top editor had been included in a group chat on U.S. military actions in Yemen. Waltz took responsibility for the mistake, and Vance also participated.

Loomer’s influence on Trump has sparked internal tensions since the 2024 campaign. Her presence at key events, including a September debate in Atlanta and 9/11 memorials in New York, frustrated aides and lawmakers from both parties. Loomer, a far-right social media figure, has promoted multiple conspiracy theories, including the debunked claim that the 9/11 attacks were an “inside job.”
