Liam Payne’s producer, Sam Pounds, has canceled the planned release of Payne’s first posthumous single, initially set for Friday. The song, titled “Do No Wrong,” was scheduled for release just under three weeks after Payne’s sudden death in Argentina.

Explaining the delay, Pounds shared on X that the decision to release will rest with Payne’s family, expressing his desire that all proceeds benefit a charity of their choice. “Though we love the song, now isn’t the time,” Pounds said, stressing respect for the family’s need to mourn in peace.

In an earlier, since-deleted post, Pounds had expressed hopes for the song to be a “blessing” to Payne’s loved ones, including his sister Ruth Gibbins and son Bear, and offered prayers for healing amid the family’s loss.

Payne, who was found dead after a fall from a third-floor balcony in Argentina, was reported intoxicated by a hotel receptionist before the incident. An autopsy confirmed his cause of death as “polytraumatism, internal and external hemorrhage,” according to the Argentina National Prosecutor’s Office. Preliminary toxicology findings revealed the presence of “pink cocaine” in his system.

Rising to fame as a member of One Direction in 2010, Payne launched a successful solo career after the band’s hiatus in 2016. His first solo single, “Strip That Down,” reached No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, and his solo album “LP1” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart in 2019.
