Grammy-winning rapper Lil Durk, known for his influence in rap and recent charitable work, faces serious charges for allegedly orchestrating a murder-for-hire targeting rapper Quando Rondo. Arrested in Florida, Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, and five others from his “Only the Family” (OTF) crew have been accused of planning and financing the 2022 Los Angeles gas station shooting that ended in the death of Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, according to FBI documents.

The conflict stems from a 2020 incident in Atlanta where OTF rapper King Von was killed in an altercation involving Rondo. The FBI alleges Durk sought revenge, offering a bounty for Rondo’s life. In August 2022, Durk’s associates were reportedly sent to Los Angeles, funded by Durk, where they tracked Rondo and Robinson. OTF members traveled with a “top associate,” Kayon Grant, who organized logistics, securing hotel rooms, vehicles, and weapons for the group.

Lil Durk is implicated in the 2022 murder of Saviay’a Robinson.

Court documents detail how OTF members followed Rondo and Robinson through multiple locations before confronting them at a gas station. The suspects fired on the two, killing Robinson but missing Rondo. Afterward, they reportedly met at an In-N-Out, discussed payments with Grant, and returned to Chicago. Durk allegedly attempted to evade capture by booking flights to Dubai, Switzerland, and Italy but was detained in Miami.

Since his arrest, Illinois village Broadview rescinded an honorary key and severed ties with Durk’s charity, Neighborhood Heroes Foundation. While acknowledging his presumed innocence, Mayor Katrina Thompson stated that Broadview upholds high standards for its partners, emphasizing the importance of ethical conduct. Durk is currently in custody, awaiting transfer to Los Angeles for his court appearance.
