Jeff Sperbeck, a veteran NFL agent and longtime business partner of Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway, died Wednesday from injuries sustained after falling off a golf cart reportedly driven by Elway. He was 62.

The Riverside County coroner confirmed Sperbeck’s death following the Saturday night incident in La Quinta, California, as reported by ESPN. Sperbeck had been sitting in the passenger seat when he fell and struck his head on the asphalt. He was placed on life support but did not recover.

Elway and Sperbeck were best friends and have gone way back since the 1990s.

According to TMZ, Elway was not driving recklessly, and the fall occurred after the two men and their spouses had left a party following a music festival. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office has opened an investigation.

Sperbeck’s four-decade career included representing NFL stars such as Elway, Jim Plunkett, and Ronnie Lott. He joined Rep1 Sports in 2018 and remained active in player representation, including college NIL deals. In 2015, he and Elway co-founded the California-based wine brand 7Cellars. Known for joining Elway on frequent West Coast trips, Sperbeck lived in Southern California and remained a close friend and advisor to the former Broncos executive.
