An air ambulance carrying six people, including a pediatric patient, crashed near Roosevelt Mall in northeast Philadelphia on Friday evening. Jet Rescue Air Ambulance stated that no survivors are expected among the four crew members, the child, and the child’s escort. The Learjet 55 was en route from Northeast Philadelphia Airport to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri, with its final destination set for Tijuana, Mexico.

Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker confirmed that multiple homes and vehicles were affected by the crash, though the total number of fatalities remains unknown. Video footage showed smoke and fire at the scene. The FAA and NTSB will lead the investigation, with Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro pledging state resources.

Former FAA air traffic controller Rev. Todd Sheridan Yeary noted that the jet model is highly reliable, suggesting a catastrophic failure occurred shortly after takeoff. Weather conditions at the time included light rain, fog, and wind gusts of 30 mph. The crash follows Wednesday’s deadly midair collision over Washington, D.C., which killed 67 people.
