Olivia Rodrigo recently revealed to Jimmy Fallon on “The Tonight Show” that she was mistakenly interrogated as a criminal while crossing the Canadian border. During the conversation, the 21-year-old singer described her “first run-in with the law” on her “Guts” world tour.

While traveling from Canada to Portland, Rodrigo said she was pulled aside after border officers reviewed her passport. Initially thinking she was being asked for an autograph, she left her tour bus and was instead led to an interrogation room around 3 a.m. “There’s a big cop with a gun, and he’s like, ‘Have you been arrested?’” she recalled, admitting she started to doubt herself.

As the questioning continued, Rodrigo panicked, especially when warned about lying to a federal agent. After 30 minutes, the officer finally realized his mistake. He told her, “There’s a girl your age, who looks just like you, named Olivia Rodriguez. She’s been arrested multiple times.”

Reflecting on the ordeal with Fallon and his amused audience, Rodrigo joked, “Jimmy, I’m pissed!”

Rodrigo’s “Guts” tour resumes in South America in March and will finish in England this summer. The tour has already seen her perform 95 shows globally. Additionally, the Netflix special, Olivia Rodrigo: GUTS World Tour, premiered on Tuesday. “The Tonight Show” airs on NBC, owned by NBCUniversal, which also owns NBC News.
