Queen Camilla, wife of King Charles, is recovering at home from a chest infection, causing her to cancel this week’s public engagements, according to Buckingham Palace. Camilla, 77, received medical advice to rest and hopes to be well enough to attend this weekend’s Remembrance events. The palace has not provided further details, as royal medical issues are typically kept private.

In November 2022, Camilla participated in the annual Field of Remembrance ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London, where she placed a wooden cross to honor the fallen.

“Her Majesty The Queen is currently unwell with a chest infection, for which her doctors have advised a short period of rest,” a palace spokesperson said. This means she will not attend the annual Field of Remembrance event at Westminster Abbey, where service personnel and others plant poppy tributes to honor the fallen. The Duchess of Gloucester will attend in her place, while Camilla expressed her regret for any disappointment her absence may cause.

King Charles, currently undergoing treatment for cancer, has also scaled back some public appearances but has continued his duties, recently traveling with Camilla to Australia and Samoa.
