Four girls, ages 9 to 17, were injured in a random stabbing at a Braintree, Massachusetts, movie theater on Saturday, according to police.

The suspect, apprehended after a vehicle chase ending in Sandwich on Cape Cod, remains unidentified.

Braintree police labeled the attack at AMC Braintree 10 theater as “unprovoked.” The assailant bypassed the ticket counter, entered a theater without paying, and attacked the girls without warning. They were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The same suspect might be connected to similar violence in Plymouth, about 30 miles south. Police scrutinized security footage and identified a black SUV linked to the suspect. A state police chase involving this SUV ended in a crash and the suspect’s arrest. It’s unclear if the suspect was injured in the crash.
