Rudy Giuliani will be hospitalized for a few more days while he continues to recover from a serious crash he was involved in over the weekend in Manchester, New Hampshire. The 81-year-old former mayor of New York City suffered a fractured thoracic vertebrae, cuts and other injuries after another vehicle rear-ended the vehicle he was riding in on Saturday night.

The vehicle collision took place near 10 p.m. local time when Lauren Kemp struck the back of a Ford Bronco that Giuliani was riding in with his press spokesman Ted Goodman behind the wheel. Both vehicles suffered significant damage and wound up in the median area of the highway. Kemp, Goodman and Giuliani were sent to local hospitals, although none of the injuries were reported as life-threatening. Manchester police reported the crash happened just across the street from an active domestic violence situation that Giuliani had become involved in just moments before the car crash.

According to the head of security for Giuliani, he was “flagged down” by a female involved in the domestic situation and had stopped to help this woman where he immediately contacted the police officers by calling 911 and waiting in place until the police arrived. The situation was not sustained to be personal.

Giuliani remains in stable condition, and it is expected he will be discharged soon. “This is a man who survived 9/11—so a little car accident won’t be slowing him down,” said his head of security. “He is willing to get back to business and continue to save the world, like he has done for the last 50 years.”

Giuliani publicly gave thanks to his medical provider and business partner Maria Ryan on Sunday for the vital role she played overseeing his medical care. The two appeared earlier in the day when they went to the local minor league baseball stadium in New Hampshire just hours before the car crash.

No charges were filed as a result of the crash and authorities said the investigation is ongoing.

Responses to the Event

Andrew Giuliani, Rudy’s son and head of the White House FIFA World Cup 2026 Task Force shared an emotional message after the crash. “Thank you to all the people that have reached out since learning the news about my Father,” he wrote on X. As a son, I can tell you I am honored to have a Dad that I can call the toughest SOB I’ve ever seen!”

Once known as “America’s Mayor” for taking New York City through the aftermath of 9/11, Giuliani also served as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York and later represented Donald Trump in 2020 election cases. His career has traversed across law enforcement, public service, and political life for over 50 years.
