Rush is coming back after all. Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson — the last two original members of the legendary Canadian rock group — are getting back together to headline a major tour in … 2026. Dubbed the “Fifty Something” tour, this return celebrates over five decades of Rush’s amazing music and pays tribute to their fallen band member and drummer, Neil Peart, who passed away in 2020.

A Reunion Years in the Making

This is the first time since the farewell R40 Tour in 2015 that Lee and Lifeson will perform together under the Rush banner. Although both musicians have remained active individually, the reunion as a duo is filled with lots of emotion and history. “The decision is a very personal one and a long time coming,” Lee said in the official announcement. “It’s been over 10 years since Alex and I have performed the music of Rush with our fallen band mate and friend Neil. Years ago, Alex and I have had some time of soul-searching about what transpired since that last show, and we came to the conclusion that we miss it. It’s time for a celebration of 50-something years of Rush music.”

A wide range of Rush songs in selected cities will be represented on the tour, and the idea is to honor Peart’s memory. They will be joined on drums by German percussionist Anika Nilles, who Lee said has technical expertise and is “up to the challenges of replacing Peart,” which he readily conceded was a task “almost impossible to accomplish.”

The band will have the blessing of Peart’s family. His widow, Carrie Nuttall-Peart, and daughter, Olivia Peart, issued a statement saying they fully support the tour. “We are delighted to support the ‘Fifty Something’ concert, which honors the band whose music has resonated with fans for generations and we honor Neil’s amazing legacy as a drummer and lyricist.”
