Sean “Diddy” Combs has filed a motion to overturn a $100 million default judgment in a sexual assault lawsuit filed by Michigan inmate Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith. The default judgment was granted after Combs did not respond to the lawsuit, which claims Combs assaulted Cardello-Smith at a hotel party in 1997. Combs’ attorneys argue the judgment is invalid since Combs was never served and that the statute of limitations expired in 2007.

Cardello-Smith, representing himself, alleged Combs assaulted him at a Detroit party. Combs’ legal team dismissed the accusations as “unbelievable” and noted Cardello-Smith’s criminal history. In addition, Combs’ lawyers seek to dissolve a restraining order issued against him. Combs is also currently facing other sexual misconduct lawsuits, including one filed by Dawn Richard and previous accusations from his ex-girlfriend, Cassie, which were settled last year.
