Serena Williams and Quinta Brunson took a jab at Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker during the ESPYs awards ceremony Thursday night.

As Williams and Brunson discussed women’s sports with Venus Williams, Serena quipped, “Except you, Harrison Butker. We don’t need you,” prompting laughter from the audience. Brunson added, “At all. Like, ever.” The camera did not show Butker’s reaction.

Butker recently faced backlash for his commencement speech in May at Benedictine College, where he emphasized traditional roles for women. His remarks drew criticism from students who found them “uncomfortable.”

Harrison Butker recently came under fire for his comments, which critics called ‘misogynistic’.

The NFL distanced itself from Butker’s views, with a spokesperson telling People Magazine that his comments did not reflect the organization’s stance. Despite the controversy, Butker expressed no regrets over his speech.

Butker was also criticized by Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam during a concert in May, supporting strong women and denouncing Butker’s comments.
