Shohei Ohtani’s dog, Decoy, stole the show at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday night by flawlessly delivering the ceremonial first pitch. The Dutch Kooikerhondje, dressed in his own L.A. Dodgers uniform, waited on the pitcher’s mound until Ohtani took position at home plate. Decoy then grabbed the ball in his mouth, ran it over to Ohtani, and topped it off with a high-five, thrilling the crowd.

Fans packed the stadium for the sold-out game, eager to snag a new Ohtani bobblehead featuring him with Decoy. This marked the second time Ohtani and his dog drew a sellout crowd, following their first bobblehead night in May.

Ohtani continued to impress during the game, hitting his 42nd home run of the season in his first at-bat, contributing to the Dodgers’ 6-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. Although Ohtani, known for excelling as both a pitcher and hitter, is sidelined from pitching this season due to his second elbow surgery, he remains a powerhouse at the plate.

After the game, Ohtani revealed that training Decoy for the pitch took three weeks. “I think I was more nervous for the ceremonial pitch than Decoy,” he admitted. “But I’m glad everything went well.”
