Janet Heller, founder and CEO of Janet Heller Fine Jewelry, who made the necklace, said others have asked her to replicate it — but she’s refused.

Simone Biles, often called the “GOAT” (Greatest Of All Time), now has a custom accessory to match her nickname. The American gymnast, who became the most decorated American gymnast in the history of the Olympic Games this week, showcased a diamond-covered goat necklace alongside her gold medal.

The white gold necklace, proudly displayed by Biles on the podium, was custom-made by Janet Heller, founder and CEO of Janet Heller Fine Jewelry in Calabasas, California. “She reached out to us about five weeks ago to say that she wanted to do a goat necklace,” Heller told NBC News. Heller went through “several iterations” before finalizing the design, surprising Biles with a 3D version featuring 546 diamonds.

Biles knew the necklace would attract attention. “My GOAT necklace is just kind of an ode, because the people love it and some people hate it,” she said at a news conference. “I was like, ‘OK, if it goes well, we’ll wear the GOAT necklace.’ I know people will go crazy over it.”

In an interview with BBC, Biles mentioned that her “haters” also inspired the design. “And the haters hate it so I love that even more. It’s just a special part of me that I have here. I also have a stuffed goat in the village as a reminder: ‘You can go out there, you can do it, you’ve done it before, so let’s go.’”

This isn’t the first piece of jewelry Biles has purchased from Heller. The jeweler also created a gold and diamond Olympic ring necklace for the gymnast. In 2021, Biles wore a leotard with a bedazzled goat on it, playfully acknowledging her nickname.

“We wore the goat just to kind of mess with people,” Biles said in July 2021, during an episode of the Facebook Watch series “Simone vs. Herself.” “A lot of people say, ‘Hey Simone, you’re the goat,’ but if I acknowledge it, then I’m cocky.”

Heller described working with Biles as an “honor” and “privilege.” “I found her to be so humble, down-to-earth, and appreciative,” she said. “She was amazing to work with.”

Despite requests to recreate the necklace, Heller has refused. “It’s very special, very one-of-a-kind,” she said.

Biles has three events left in Paris, including a vault event on Saturday, and balance beam and floor finals on Monday.
