Country singer Sundance Head, winner of Season 11 of The Voice, was injured by a stray bullet at his Texas ranch on Friday, according to his agent, Trey Newman. The bullet, likely from a nearby hunter’s gunfire, struck Head in the abdomen but missed vital organs, lodging in a fatty area. Surgery was deemed unnecessary, and Head is recovering in a Tyler hospital after being stabilized.

Head’s wife, Misty, shared on his official Facebook page that while the incident was serious, the bullet will not be removed. She expressed gratitude and asked for prayers during this difficult time.

Head, 46, rose to fame under coach Blake Shelton’s guidance on The Voice in 2016. Since then, he has toured with Shelton, released four albums, and returned to the show for Shelton’s farewell season.

The Smith County Sheriff’s Office has yet to release additional information about the incident.
