Hanks’ message comes amid a growing trend of AI deepfake ads exploiting celebrity images and voices for scams or misleading endorsements. Other celebrities like Elon Musk, Warren Buffett, and Taylor Swift have also been targeted by similar AI-generated content. For instance, Donald Trump recently shared AI-generated images falsely depicting Swift fans as his supporters. The proliferation of such deceptive content has led to calls for stronger federal legislation to protect against unauthorized digital replication, with high-profile figures like Scarlett Johansson speaking out against the misuse of their likenesses.
