Weezer is moving forward with its scheduled performance at Coachella this weekend, even as the band grapples with a serious incident involving the wife of bassist Scott Shriner. A source close to the band confirmed to NBC News on Thursday that the show will go on. The rock group is set to perform on the Mojave stage at 3:10 p.m. Saturday, just four days after Jillian Shriner was shot by police.

It remains unclear whether Scott Shriner will appear with the band during the performance.

The incident occurred in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles after police were pursuing suspects involved in a hit-and-run on the nearby Ventura Freeway. Officers searching the area encountered Jillian Shriner in her yard and said she was armed. According to authorities, she failed to comply with repeated commands to drop her weapon. Officers opened fire, striking her in the shoulder.

Police have since confirmed that Jillian Shriner had no connection to the hit-and-run. However, she was taken to a hospital and later booked on suspicion of attempted murder. As of Thursday, it had not been confirmed whether she had obtained or been assigned legal counsel.

Jillian Shriner is a journalist and the author of several books, including Behold the Monster: Confronting America’s Most Prolific Serial Killer. The shooting has cast a shadow over Weezer’s Coachella appearance, but the band has opted to proceed with its scheduled set.
