Intuit, the maker of QuickBooks, has announced plans to acquire Series A revenue management company Sequence. The deal, announced on Thursday, October 15, 2026, aims to enhance Intuit’s financial intelligence system with new revenue management capabilities. This acquisition is expected to strengthen Intuit’s offerings for mid-market businesses.

The acquisition is designed to address the growing complexity of pricing, billing, and collecting revenue for businesses that use usage-based and milestone-based models. Ashley Still, executive vice president and general manager of Intuit’s small business and mid-market group, stated that Sequence will enable Intuit to provide mature revenue management solutions. This move is a significant step towards offering an AI-native Enterprise Resource Planning system for complex and growing businesses, particularly those in industries leveraging AI consumption models such as B2B software and professional services.

Sequence’s Revenue Management Platform

Sequence offers a revenue management platform intended to replace manual billing processes and spreadsheet-based workflows. Intuit stated that Sequence will provide mid-market companies and their accounting partners with a unified platform for pricing, billing, and collecting revenue tied to consumption, usage, seats, and milestones. “Revenue management has long been the most fragmented workflow in the back office. As businesses adopt usage-based and hybrid pricing, that complexity is only growing,” Sequence Co-Founder and CEO Riya Grover said. “We built Sequence to automate the entire process, from contract to revenue recognition, with AI agents automating daily tasks and working securely alongside finance teams. With Intuit’s platform and reach, and our shared alignment on serving mid-market businesses and creating AI-driven financial workflows, this is a natural fit for both companies.”

Riya Grover, Co-Founder and CEO of Sequence, emphasized that the company was founded to automate the entire revenue management process, from contract initiation to revenue recognition. She noted that AI agents within Sequence automate daily tasks and collaborate with finance teams. Grover described the acquisition as a natural fit, citing Intuit’s platform and reach, and a shared commitment to serving mid-market businesses and developing AI-driven financial workflows.

Addressing Mid-Market Challenges

Recent research has highlighted challenges faced by middle-market companies. A PYMNTS Intelligence study, “The Payment Guarantee Gap: Why Adoption Lags Despite Perceived Value,” indicated that while 85% of large firms with $5 billion or more in annual revenue evaluated or used payment guarantee services, only 47% of their middle-market counterparts did so. This research, a collaboration with Plaid, suggests that many companies struggle to bridge the gap between their digital aspirations and their daily operational execution. Despite recognizing the potential of payment guarantees to streamline back-office functions, persistent concerns regarding software deployment and fee structures can hinder adoption among these firms.

Intuit has not disclosed the financial terms of the acquisition. The integration of Sequence is expected to bolster Intuit’s position in the B2B software space, offering enhanced tools for complex revenue management to its growing mid-market customer base.
